Dawna has taught Suzuki violin and viola in the Central Ohio area for over 20 years. She is a frequent guest clinician at workshops, high schools, and youth orchestras, and frequently coaches groups at the Chamber Music Connection. Dawna is the Director of Orchestras at The Wellington School.
In addition to teaching, Dawna is an active freelance performer in the central Ohio area. She was the principal violist of the Westerville Symphony for many years and is currently a violist in Newark-Granville Symphony Orchestra, Springfield Symphony Orchestra, and Columbus Symphony Orchestra.
As an undergraduate, she earned a B.M. in violin performance at The Ohio State University & earned her Masters in Music from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Dawna has taken teacher training courses from Ed Sprunger, Linda Stieg, Ronda Cole, Ed Kreitman, Kimberly Meier-Sims, and Ann Montzka-Smelzer.
Dawna has a passion for string pedagogy, child development, cooking, and reading. Dawna lives in Hilliard with her three kids, Elijah, Abby, and Jacob, and their two cats, Derek and Millie.
